Darkroom

You will have an opportunity to capture images with 35mm Black & White Film during the term. Students will process film and images in the darkroom.  Select your best image(s) from your roll and Mr. Verhulst will scan your image for posting on your Portfolio.

Landscape

Landscape Photography will be based on the great outdoors.  We have some amazing coastline around Clatsop County.  Capture some of the great outdoors that we have in our own backyard.

Reflection

Reflections might appear on water, in mirrors, or off a window.  Keep your eyes out for a unique image that demonstrates reflection.  Here is a shot Mr. V took of a Moon Set, and the sky on the Estuary.

Seasonal Shot

Have the trees started to turn color?  Do you see flowers blooming?  Did it snow on the beach?  Think about how you can tell the story of the seasons with your camera.

Leading Lines

Leading lines is a technique photographers use to lead their audience attention down a certain "path."  Often they can be roads, paths, or patined lines.  Often the line can point to a subject, or lead you wondering "what's on the other side."

Framing

Framing is a technique in which the photographer places the primary focus of a subject within a "frame."  Frames could be doorways, branches, trees, architectural structures, or any other object that creates a frame for the subject.

Still Life - Product Photography

During our Still Life Mini-Unit, we will have an opportunity to use professional photo tents and lights to create product images.  Students will need to think of small objects or products they would like to photography.  Perhaps your favorite pair of shoes?  Jewelry? Or food?

Backlighting

Backlit photos require the photographer to place their subject between the sun and their camera.  The technique causes the subject to be underexposed and captures a silhouette.  This is an easy one to capture near sunset.
